Hey Gorgeous!!!
Y'all know how passionate I am about putting "good for you" food into your body. Food is fuel, food is our medicine cabinet, and food is the fountain of youth. Well, that it is if you are putting the right foods in your body. I am such a huge fan of clean eating and consuming foods that reduce inflammation. Did you know that many of the same foods that heal our bodies can also be used topically to give you beautiful skin? Some of my favorite healthy staples are actually fabulous at- home remedies for younger looking skin. So, the next time you have a girls night in, or do a self imposed at home spa day, try some of these amazing recipes to get you that youthful glow.
both honey and yogurt have anti-microbrial properties
Blemish-Banishing Orange Mask
Try it: When you're having a not-so-perfect skin day
Why it works: The turmeric in this homemade face mask has been hailed as an anti-aging superspice, but it's also effective topically. It's anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial -- even against P. acnes, the bacteria linked to breakouts.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon orange peel powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon organic honey
Directions: Mix ingredients to create a paste. Brush it on (you can use a makeup brush), and let dry for 10 minutes. Rinse well with water.
Avocado and honey face mask
Try it:This avocado face mask works wonders in restoring dry peeling skin and cracked cheeks back to life. Avocado is hypoallergenic and when applied topically to skin, can penetrate deep into the pores, promoting soft supple and smooth skin. It contains only one other ingredeint which is honey, the ancient all cure that has amazing moisturizing properties.
Why it Works:
Honey contains potent anti bacterial and anti septic properties that kill off acne causing germs. Evens out skin discolorations and black spots. Gently moisturizes and lubricates skin. Lightens and brighten up dull and aging skin.
Useful Tips:
- If there's any excess left of the face mask, don't let it go to waste. Slather it onto your neck and hands just before taking a bath.
- You can store excess face mask mixture for up to a week in the refridgerator. If it starts giving off a weird smell, toss it in the trash.
- Purchase raw organic honey to prevent any skin irritations or rashes that processed honey with artificial honey with additives may cause.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 ripe avocado mashed
Directions:
Combine the above ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
Apply the mixture to your clean face in a circular motion. Let the face mask settle for at least 15 minutes.
When the time is up, rinse off the face mask with warm water first then cold water. Pat your face dry and enjoy the silky moisturized feel of your skin!
