At Home Spa Treatments for Beautiful Younger Looking Skin

Y'all know how passionate I am about putting "good for you" food into your body. Food is fuel, food is our medicine cabinet, and food is the fountain of youth. Well, that it is if you are putting the right foods in your body. I am such a huge fan of clean eating and consuming foods that reduce inflammation. Did you know that many of the same foods that heal our bodies  can also be used topically to give you beautiful skin?  Some of my favorite healthy staples are actually fabulous at- home remedies for younger looking skin. So, the next time you have a girls night in, or do a self imposed at home  spa day, try some of these amazing recipes to get you that youthful glow.

 

 

Papaya Face Mask

Try it: When your skin is dull and needs a youthful glow

Why it Works:

 Papaya is great for treating a dull, tired complexion.

What you'll need: 3 tablespoons of mashed papaya, 1/3 cup of oatmeal, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1/2 lemon (optional).

Mash up the papaya into a puree before adding in honey, which is rich in antioxidants and anti-aging properties and oatmeal, a natural exfoliant and redness reducer.

Mix the ingredients together and finish off with lemon juice if you desire stronger skin-brightening effects.

 

Get-Glowing Honey Facial


Try it: To soothe and tone before a big event

Why it works: Honey is a skin-softener that naturally reduces acne. Yogurt contains skin-refining bacteria and also moisturizes. Cucumber reduces swelling and bags under the eyes. All the makings of a seriously glow-inducing homemade face mask.

Ingredients:
1/2 cucumber
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon Greek yogurt

Directions: Puree the three ingredients together in a blender. Spread over face. Leave for fifteen minutes, then wash off with warm water.

 

All-Natural Eye Treatments

Forget pricey eye creams, give yourself an instant lift the natural way by either rubbing coconut oil around and under your eyes to prevent wrinkles or place cold cucumbers on your eyes for 5-10 minutes to reduce puffiness.

 

Cooling Cucumber Eye Mask

Try it: When you need to de-puff your eyes after a poor night's sleep

Why it works: This homemade face mask contains peppermint, which increases blood circulation, as well cucumber, whose antioxidants decrease eye irritation.

Ingredients:
5 sprigs mint
1/2 cucumber

Directions: Puree the mint and cucumber in a blender. Soak a cotton ball in the solution, then pat it around your eyes. Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off.

Vanilla Sugar Scrub

  Do you want softer smoother skin?

Try it: When your skin is dry and flaky

Why it Works: The sugar gently exfoliates while the coconut oil soothes and moisturizes. 

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  •  1 cup of raw sugar.

Mix together coconut oil, vanilla extract and raw sugar until the coconut oil is completely liquified and absorbed by the sugar. Treat yourself to your exfoliating scrub's tasty benefits next time you suds up or package it as a pretty party favor for guests at your next Girls Night  Soiree.

 

Face-Quenching Coconut Mask

Try it: When your skin is flaky and dry 


Why it works: Coconut oil is highly moisturizing, and the gentle rubbing action of the shredded coconut will also exfoliate. It's the perfect homemade face mask for everyday.

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons thinly shredded coconut
1 tablespoon royal jelly
1 tablespoon vanilla-flavored almond milk

Directions: Mix coconut shreds with royal jelly. Add almond milk to the mixture to achieve desired texture. Spread on cleansed face and neck and wait for 15 minutes. Rinse with water and pat dry.

Piña Colada Face Polisher

Try it: When your dry, sensitive skin calls for a gentle exfoliator

Why it works: Want an exfoliating homemade face mask? Pineapple contains fruit acids, which naturally and gently slough off dead skin cells.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons avocado
1 teaspoon fresh pineapple juice
1 teaspoon raw honey
2 tablespoons unsweetened coconut, shredded

Directions: Use a fork to mash the avocado until smooth. Stir in pineapple juice, honey and coconut shreds. Apply a thin layer to skin, avoiding the eye area. Let sit for 10 minutes before using gentle, circular motions to exfoliate dead skin cells. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Avocado Face Mask

Try it:This summer-inspired face mask uses avocado, egg and banana to soften and tighten skin, promoting a younger, wrinkle-reduced complexion over time.

Why it Works: Avocado is loaded with antioxidants that have numerous anti-aging benefits. 

What you'll need: 1/2 banana, 1/2 ripe avocado, 1 egg.

Directions:

1.Cut up half a banana, half an avocado and crack open an egg into a bowl. Make sure your avocado is soft and ripe. Mix all of your ingredients together until a puree is formed. Bananas provide skin-tightening and blemish-reducing benefits, while avocado softens skin and the egg brightens and smoothes wrinkles.

 Banana Honey Rosewater Facial

Try it: To restore a youthful glow

why it works: Banana will naturally moisturize and hydrate the skin. It also lightens dark spots 

Ingredients:

1 small ripe banana

1 teaspoon rose water

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon yogurt

What You Have To Do

  • Chop and mash the banana. Add the honey and rose water to it, and mix well.

  • Lastly, add the yogurt and mix until you get a smooth, homogenous paste.

  • Apply this pack and keep it on for 20 minutes.

  • Rinse with cool water.

How Often You Should Do This?

Use the banana pack 1-2 times in a week.

Why This Works?

A fruit widely known for its anti-aging properties, banana contains vitamins A, B, and E. It is a rich source of zinc, potassium, and iron which is beneficial for maintaining a youthful looking skin

 

Avocado Yogurt Face Mask (this makes a great fruit dip too) 

Ingredients

1/4 cup Greek yogurt

1/4 mashed avocado

2 TBSP honey 

Try it:

To sooth and Nourish Dry, Tired Skin

Why it Works:

Yogurt moisturizes and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. Avocado is a treasure trove of antioxidants like B-carotene, lecithin, and linoleic acid which helps moisturize your skin from within.

 Turmeric Face Mask

You Will Need
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 3 teaspoons rose water
What You Need To Do?
  1. Add rose water to the bowl containing Kasturi turmeric powder and mix them well till a fine, thick, paste-like consistency forms.
  2. Apply the mixture on your face and neck gently and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it with cold water and pat dry.
How Often?

You can apply this mask every alternate day.

Why This Works?

The mask is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant. It brightens the skin and reduces skin pigmentation.

Cucumber Face Mask

You Will Need
  • Half a cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
What You Need To Do?
  1. Grind the cucumber and add lemon juice to it. Apply it on your face and let it stay for 10-20 minutes.
  2. Rinse the mask with cold water and pat dry.
How Often?

You can apply the mask every day.

Why This Works?

The mask contains enzymes that work on your skin to make it look younger and brighter. It also refreshes the skin.

 

Potato And Carrot Face Mask

You Will Need
  • 1 medium-sized potato
  • 1 medium-sized carrot
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
What You Need To Do?
  1. Grind the potato and carrot together and keep in a bowl. Add rose water to the paste and mix well.
  2. Apply the paste on your face and neck and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse the mask off and pat dry.
How Often?

You can apply this mask every day.

Why This Works?

The mask heals skin blemishes and dark circles, and brightens the skin. It contains vitamin A, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles on the skin.

 

HONEY  AND  YOGURT  MOISTURIZING  ACNE  MASK

Ingredients:

  • 1  Teaspoon  of  warmed  honey

  • 1  Teaspoon  of  plain  yoghurt


Directions:

Mix  the  ingredients  together  and  apply  to  skin.    Leave  on  for  10-­‐20   minutes  then  rinse  off  with  luke  warm  water.

both honey and yogurt have anti-microbrial properties

Blemish-Banishing Orange Mask

Try it: When you're having a not-so-perfect skin day

Why it works: The turmeric in this homemade face mask has been hailed as an anti-aging superspice, but it's also effective topically. It's anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial -- even against P. acnes, the bacteria linked to breakouts.

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon orange peel powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon organic honey

Directions: Mix ingredients to create a paste. Brush it on (you can use a makeup brush), and let dry for 10 minutes. Rinse well with water.

 

Avocado and honey face mask

Try it:This avocado face mask works wonders in restoring dry peeling skin and cracked cheeks back to life. Avocado is hypoallergenic and when applied topically to skin, can penetrate deep into the pores, promoting soft supple and smooth skin. It contains only one other ingredeint which is honey, the ancient all cure that has amazing moisturizing properties.

Why it Works:

Honey contains potent anti bacterial and anti septic properties that kill off acne causing germs. Evens out skin discolorations and black spots. Gently moisturizes and lubricates skin. Lightens and brighten up dull and aging skin.

Useful Tips:

  1. If there's any excess left of the face mask, don't let it go to waste. Slather it onto your neck and hands just before taking a bath.
  2. You can store excess face mask mixture for up to a week in the refridgerator. If it starts giving off a weird smell, toss it in the trash.
  3. Purchase raw organic honey to prevent any skin irritations or rashes that processed honey with artificial honey with additives may cause.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 ripe avocado mashed

 

Directions:
Combine the above ingredients in a small mixing bowl.

Apply the mixture to your clean face in a circular motion. Let the face mask settle for at least 15 minutes.

When the time is up, rinse off the face mask with warm water first then cold water. Pat your face dry and enjoy the silky moisturized feel of your skin!
